Bonds and ties among Banjar folks are really strong. Simply said, an outsider who doesn’t belong in their group would be left alone. Outer marriage rarely happen and Banjar folks doesn’t ’socialize with others much therefore makes them timid and narrow-minded. However,these to them are good so as to preserve their culture and dialect.
Most Banjar folks are quite religious and lead an ample life. They prefer to send their children to sekolah-sekolah pondok, madrasah or sent them to Makkah. What’s more interesting about Banjar folks is that they don’t like to do paid and under-employed jobs instead they prefer to do freelance like farming hence they can spend more time deepening in religious fields. Some Banjarese mostly,pure Banjarese from Martapura,Kalimantan people have a chinese-look features,but some of them are just like malays.

Banjar folks known with their bravery and temperament. Parang panjang, lading and badik(knives) are merchandise compulsory to them in every fight. Rage and fights considered synonym to them. They tend to learn any defensive art in order for safety precautions.
With the developments and modernization nowadays, Banjar folks starts to accept other culture even accept mixed marriage with others. Banjar folks mostly live in FELDA and FELCRA especially in Pahang. Hence, they still preserve their culture and custom but their temperament and suspicious against others decreased from time to time. However, religious education were still their main priority compared to other educational stream.
