 MARRIAGE
Their wedding is quite similar to marriages in Indonesia such as Minang and Jawa. Dowry given by man’s family are groceries such as salt, sugar, onions, rice, pepper and so on. These are believed as a starts in entering a married life. A groom needs to provide two coconut. By doing this is believed that the life span of their marriage equivalent to the planted coconuts’ life span.  Moreover, planting  coconuts are also believed can be as the source of income in for newly married couple.
 Marriage and inheritance are governed by Islamic law. Although a man is permitted to have as many as four wives (according to Islamic law), the majority of the Banjarese practice monogamy (one husband, one wife). Couples are married by registering with the local imam (local Islamic leader). Marriages have traditionally been arranged by the parents. Banjarese people upholds woman dignity and pride.
The process which a couple undergo before marriage:
  1. Basuluh and batatakun or simply said merisik.
  2. Badatang (proposal)
  3. Maatar Patalian (dowry)
  4. Nikah
  5. Batatai (wedding)
GETA KENCANA
GETA KENCANA or GETA PERADUAN: for newlyweds

PUKONG
 Banjarese people cuddling their newborn to sleep by doing pukong or pukongan. They believe that by doing this, the baby can soundless sleep and fell into a deep sleep. They also believe that when they grew up,the unmarried girl can walk gracefully and sexier.
Babies who have fever  and flu ,pukongan can help exclameting their breathing. Pukong use kain batik to prevent the babies from choking.


BADUDUS
Badudus or also known as bapapai and mandi-mandi is a ritual done by Banjar people to distinguish bad omen and bad luck.


Badudus are often done for 3 occasion: for newly weds, mothers who have their first child and those who about to get honored status( Badudus Mandi Tiang Mandaring.


BAAYUN MULUD

If Badudus is an adultery ritual, Baayun Mulud is a ritual to distinguish bad omen for new born within 0-5 years old.
